Love the Pond Blog I have to say, and I also love in Southern California.
Well this afternoon I was out trimming some bushes by my pond when I found a rattlesnake had taken up residence right under my filter. I hear this rattle coming from the filter and looked and saw something had burrowed underneath it. Thankfully I didn't reach in, but got a flashlight and shined it under the filter to see at least a 2 or 3 ft rattlesnake. We called the local authorities who came and took him away. We get them now and again here in the foothills but this one seem upset to be losing his new home.
Anyway after all the excitement I was wondering do you think the snake would eat and of the pond animals? Its hard to count all my fish and I'm wondering if some might have become snake food?
